E-Resources Discovery Carnival (A summary)

The event was held successfully on 7 Nov 2008. Over 500 students and staff completed their quizzes and submitted their lucky draw entry forms. By completing their quiz forms, they got an opportunity to familiarize themselves with various kinds of e-resources, including e-databases, e-journals and e-books.

The carnival reached a climax at 3:30pm as hundred of participants gathered at the 7 x 24 Learning Centre, MMW Library to wait for the final lucky draw. Those who were lucky to win a prize were very happy; for those who did not win a prize also enjoyed the atmosphere, and most importantly, they got to understand more about valuable e-resources which will benefit their studies!

Display of Works by the Recipients of the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Education

Selected works by the distinguished educators who wll receive the honorary degree of Doctor of Education at the Institute’s 14th Graduation Ceremony is now displaying on the Ground Floor of the Mong Man Wai Library from 10th to 23rd November 2008.

New Colour Photocopier & Printer (Town Centre Library)

To provide better photocopying and printing services to the Town Centre Library users, a new Octopus-operated colour photocopier/printer has been installed at the e-Learning Centre of the Town Centre Library.  Charges for colour photocopying/printing are $2 for each A4 page and $4 for each A3 page.

This new service will start on 3 November 2008.  For further information, please contact the Town Centre Library at 2190-8521.

E-Resources Discovery Carnival

To promote the understanding and usage of electronic information resources amongst our staff and students, the Institute Library will be staging the 2nd “E-Resources Discovery Carnival” on Friday, 7th November 2008.

The Carnival will be held from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm at the 7 x 24 Learning Centre located on the Ground Floor of the Mong Man Wai Library. Electronic resource vendors will exhibit their products and assist library users to learn more about their e-resources subscribed by the Library. Research tools training sessions for using Scopus, Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI), Arts and Humanities Citation Index (AHCI), and Journal Citation Report (JCR) will also be provided to academic and research staff on 6th and 7th November 2008.

Staff and students are also welcome to join the quiz and prize draws of the Carnival. Attractive prizes will be offered throughout the Carnival, including iPod Touch, iPod Nano, netbook computers, photo printer, $500 book coupons and many more. Inner Mongolia Schools Photo Exhibition by Mr. Lo Kwong-Fai

Mr. Lo Kwong Fai, Alumnus, Robert Black Teachers Training College, is a retired primary school principal who devotes his time in re-building schools for children of the under-developed areas in China.   This exhibition shows Mr. Lo’s camera focus on Inner Mongolia schools.
