The Climbing Carnival will be staged at the soccer pitch of Pak Tai Temple Playground, Cheung Chau on 16 May (Sunday). The activities include game stalls (featuring the themes of the Bun Festival, sports climbing, greening and environment protection), handicraft, variety show, bun tower climbing demonstrations, Wishing Bun Tower, display of winners¡¯ work of the Bun Tower Colouring and Drawing Competitions, etc.

The Bun Tower Climbing Fun Day will be held to enable the public to enjoy the fun of climbing bun towers on the spot. It is divided into groups for masters, adults and youths. An invitation relay for local tertiary institutions, government departments, and commercial and industrial organisations will also be staged. Activity details are as follows:

  • On-the-spot enrolment
  • 4 sessions in total (each lasts for an hour), one winner for each session
  • In each session, the participant who climbs to the designated height of the bun tower in the shortest time will be the winner
  • A souvenir will be presented to each winner

(1 metre or above in height)

  • Local tertiary institutions, government departments, and commercial and industrial organisations will be invited to take part
  • Participating teams are required to receive training on bun tower climbing provided by the Hong Kong Mountaineering Union in the morning of 16 May
  • The team to finish the race in the shortest time will be the winner
  • There are prizes for the champion, and the first and second runners-up
