The Awards for Creative Writing in Chinese has been organized since 1979, aiming to promote reading and encourage creative writing in Chinese. The Award is divided into six categories, including poetry, essay, fiction, literary criticism, children story and children picture category.

Chinese Poetry Writing Competition has been organized since 1991 to promote the proficiency in Chinese language and the appreciation of Chinese literature with rhymes.

Competition on Story Writing in Chinese for Students in 2012
The Competiton on Story Writing in Chinese for Students has been organized with the Hong Kong Children's Arts Society since 1995, aiming to promote reading of quality works and to widely encourage continual creative writing. The Competition is divided into 3 categories, including Upper Primary, Junior Secondary and Senior Secondary Category.

Since 1991, Public Libraries has organized the Hong Kong Biennial Awards for Chinese Literature to encourage Hong Kong writers' pursuit of excellence as well as local publishers to publish quality literary books.
