A concert that is innovative and unique! An amazing musical experience! Now listen and look again. For these are no ordinary musical instruments. In fact, they are created from recycled materials: steel scraps, copper pipes, rubber hoses, wooden planks and even aluminium springs. After a makeover and a good polish, these pieces of scrap have been transformed into percussion instruments producing a range of rich and unusual sounds. Put the instruments together with a group of outstanding musicians and such sounds are turned into wonderful works.
ScrapArtsMusic, a five-piece percussion ensemble from Vancouver, Canada, has gathered industrial materials from construction sites and refashioned these materials into hundreds of beautifully crafted percussion instruments. Together with the musicians' intoxicating mix of music, movement and spectacle, the show results in the extraordinary. Transcending language, culture and age, ScrapArtsMusic offers a highly physical, wildly theatrical and thoroughly entertaining taste of the musical vanguard.
