Media in the Intercultural city

Can local media be a real partner to cities which are trying to build a vision for diversity as an asset for their development? How to report on facts and fears without stigmatising entire communities? What are the challenges for media ethics in diverse communities?

CultureWatchEurope approved

At its Plenary Session on 5-6 May 2008, the Steering Committee for Culture approved the Council of Europe’s cultural governance observatory function, CultureWatchEurope. The function includes optimal linking and strengthening of existing information and monitoring tools, resulting in the production of targeted policy and trend reviews, as well as increased liaison opportunities between governmental stakeholders and key partners from civil society. Towards integrated spatial management

Intercultural dialogue at the heart of Europe's cities and regions

 Council of Europe's work on intercultural dialogue, including the Intercultural   cities programme will be presented at an event of the Committee of the Regions on 25 and 26 November.

 The event is organised with the European Commission Directorate-General for Education and Culture and Notre Europe, the European think-tank founded by Jacques Delors. First European Heritage Forum
The First European Heritage Forum on “Heritage and Dialogue” took place in Brussels, on 23-24 October 2008, on the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of the European Heritage Days in Belgium and as a contribution to the 2008 European Year of Intercultural Dialogue. 200 participants took part in round tables animated by a team of professionals. A meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly’s Sub-Committee on the Cultural Heritage was also held during the Forum. Dame Liz Forgan, Former Chair of the United Kingdom’s Heritage Lottery Fund, gave an inspirational keynote presentation at the end of the Forum.     (More…)  [6/11/2008]  
Celebrating Jewish Culture
The 9th edition of the European Day of Jewish Culture, a key activity of the Europe Routes of Jewish Heritage, will be held on Sunday, 7 September 2008, in 30 countries.
The theme for this year is "Music", inviting the public to discover the place of song and music in Judaism, as well as diversity of Jewish music and the Jewish contribution to the world of music.(More…) [08/08/2008]
