“I Love Lyuba: Baby Mammoth of the Ice Age” Special Exhibition
Hong Kong Science Museum aims at promoting science education through organising a variety of exhibitions and fun science programmes for schools since its establishment. We are pleased to inform you that the Museum will present the “I Love Lyuba: Baby Mammoth of the Ice Age” special exhibition at the Main Lobby of the Museum from 14 May to 10 June 2012.
The “I Love Lyuba: Baby Mammoth of the Ice Age” exhibition showcases the world’s most well-preserved baby mammoth, Lyuba, which is having her first official public exhibition in Asia. The exhibition depicts how scientists explore the ecology and behaviour of mammoths through studying Lyuba. Other exhibition elements include: several rare pieces of long-extinct Ice Age mammal skulls, interactive games, precious audio-visual programmes that inspire the public to discover more about the mysteries of the prehistoric Ice Age. This exhibition is well received in the International Financial Centre mall, and we hope to continue its success by allowing more students and public to pay a visit through moving the exhibition to the Hong Kong Science Museum.
With the aim to facilitate students visiting the exhibition and enhance teachers’ knowledge about the exhibition in order to assist their teaching, special guided tours in connection to the exhibition and teacher preview (conducted in Cantonese) would also be arranged respectively. All teachers and students are welcome to join these programmes.
